After a week in the city of Cusco (Peru), we decided to go to Machu picchu to know, one of the new seven wonders of the world.

At 5:00H in the morning, a taxi takes us from our hotel, to the train station.
The trip by train was amazing, with an incredible nature full of exotic landscapes, waterfalls, abundant vegetation, colors and history. History because during the trip, you can see many ruins of the Incas.
Following the Urubamba river through the amazonic forest, we can see river rapids.
River seems to be inviting adventurers to an encounter with nature and to run a rafting trip, but i think today could be dangerous.
After 4 hours by train, we came to Aguas Calientes. A small village at the bottom of the mountains.

In Aguas Calientes ("hot waters" in Spanish") you can enjoy natural hot baths, and it has many hotels and restaurantes for tourists.
From Aguas Calientes you take a bus to the top (about 8 Km), where Machu picchu ruins are located.

It was raining in some moments, but you can buy a useful raincoat (1 Dollar). And the dense fog was dancing over the ruins and mountains.
We visited the ruins with a guided group for 3 hours. The guide was very friendly and told us everything about the different sectors (popular, royalty and sacred districts), the incas, it's culture and fascinating civilization.
You will discover some archaeological treasures, such as the "intihuatana", the temple of the colors, the Room of the three windowsand many others.
At the end of your guide tour, you have 2 or 3 extra hours of free time that you can use to explore the ruins, or have a a meal.
You can also visit Aguas Calientes where you will find a bid market in front of the railway station.
Llamas roam freely over the entire site. They keep the grass tidy and are capable of reaching many spots inaccessible by lawnmowers or sheep.
