goldentempleGolden Temple also known as Darbar Sahib is located in Amritsar in Punjab and is also the most important spot for the Sikh pilgrimage. The Golden Temple reflects the true magnificence of god. The temple is also known as the Hari Mandir which means the Temple of God. There is the Sarovar (tank) which is believed to have the healing powers. The place is the perfect example of tolerance and acceptance of Sikh philosophy. The Harimandir Sahib (Golden temple) in Amritsar is known to be the holiest shrine for the Sikh people. The Golden temple was officially renamed as Harmandir Sahib in Mach 2005. The temple has also become increasingly popular as the important tourist destination.

Special Attraction in Golden Temple:

As the Golden Temple is the special sight for the visitors as all the other Sikhs. There are many things that must be followed by the visitors and they are one must not drink alcohol, eat meat or smoke inside the shrine. Like the other temples, the visitors are most welcome and they are not compelled to buy anything. The visitors usually buy the bandana to cover their head from any of the vendor. They also wash their feet by wading through the shallow pool before the entrance of the pool.

The pool from which the pool is surrounded is known as Amrit Sarovar (Pool of Nectar). One reaches the temple by following the Parikrama which also includes the Sarovar in the clockwise direction. The Hari Mandir is connected directly with the Hari Mandir with the bridge called as the Guru's Bridge which reflects the journey of soul after death of a person. The gateway of the bridge is known as the Darshani Deorhi which is having the marvelous silver doors.

Reaching Golden Temple:

By Air: Amritsar is counted under the most popular cities of north India and therefore it is well connected with almost all the major cities of the country like Delhi and Mumbai. Before the airport has been upgraded as the international airport which also connects the city from the international destinations.
