Because Sydney's coastal suburbs are surrounded by seawater, temperature conditions are buffered, and sea breezes keep the hot days cool. Head out west, even a few kilometers, and the extremes are greater.

Sydney enjoys a temperate, humid climate with abundant sunshine. The sunshine is well spread through the year. In fact, Sydney basks in more blue-sky days in winter than in summer. Given the strong summer sun, this is considered a blessing by many of Sydney’s fair-skinned citizens.

Sydney's climate is particularly mild, with fine weather all year. The sunny city of Sydney is comfortable to visit at any time. Sydney's summer months of December, January and February are particularly hot, with consistent fine weather, although there may be an occasional downpour at this time of the year, causing high levels of humidity.

Because Sydney's coastal suburbs are surrounded by seawater, temperature conditions are buffered, and sea breezes keep the hot days cool. Head out west, even a few kilometers, and the extremes are greater. You won't see snow in Sydney, and even frosts are rare near the coast.

Springtime in Sydney brings strong westerly winds, which can last well into October, cooling the city down, before summer arrives with its long hot days and strong sunshine. Sydney has a great climate - just be aware of the humidity in summer and for visitors, the strength of the sun.

The autumn months of March, April and May are delightful and this is one of the most popular times of the year to visit Sydney, with fine days and particularly mild nights. Spring in Sydney is between September to November and although there is more chance of rainy weather in Sydney at this time of the year, it usually clears very quickly.
