DNA testing is a very useful tool in proving a biological relationship between alleged relatives for international immigration purposes. There are many tests available for the confirmation of biological relationships like maternity testing, paternity testing, half-sibling ship or full-sibling ship. A Legal DNA test is the only possible and acceptable method for the proof of any biological relationship especially in cases in which countries do not have organized public registries, hold scanty birth certificates, marriages certificates and other such important documents that are used to back immigration procedures.
Listed below are important procedures & information regarding DNA Immigration Testing :
• Once the appropriate DNA test has been chosen, the petitioner will initiate the process by selecting a laboratory where the DNA sample would be collected. It is very important to ensure that the laboratory chosen for the testing is accredited by the American Association of Blood Banks (AABB) and ISO 17025.
• Sample collection outside the US will take place at the nearest embassy. A third party sampler will be in charge of taking the sample. Please note that there is often an added charge to cover the sampler’s fee. The sampler fee will be paid by the applicant or the applicant’s family. It is important to keep the receipt of payment and provide it to the embassy when entering to complete the sample collection.
• The chosen US embassy would receive the report and DNA kit from an authorized laboratory of the visa applicant. The authorities of the embassy thoroughly go through the report and kit.
• It important to bring all required documents on the day of your appointment & to be on time. This will prevent any delays in the testing process
• Generally, the DNA collections of visa applicants are usually done in the Consular section of the U.S. Embassy or Consulate by a designated physician or medical technician under the supervision of Embassy officers. On the appointment date, the applicant should come to the Embassy with the following documents:
* Passport of the visa applicant
* Applicant’s photo’
* The receipt provided by the physician for the DNA collection
Once all these steps have been undertaken, the immigration testing process proceeds to the next step of confirmation of the visa or any other alternative decision-making actions.
