Rome is the capital of Italy and the country's largest and most populated city. The city is located in the central-western portion of the Italian Peninsula, on the Tiber River within the Lazio region of Italy.


In 2007 Rome was the 11th-most-visited city in the world, 3rd most visited in the European Union, and the most popular tourist attraction in Italy. The city is one of Europe's and the world's most successful city "brands," both in terms of reputation and assets. Its historic centre is listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site.


Rome culture


The Culture of Rome refers to the arts, high culture, language, religion, politics, cuisine, architecture and fashion in Rome, Italy. Rome was supposedly founded in 753 BC and ever since has been the capital of the Roman Empire, one of the main centers of Christianity, the home of the Roman Catholic Church and the seat of the Italian Republic. Due to its historical and social importance, Rome is often nicknamed the Caput Mundi, or "capital of the world".

Culture Festival - This festival takes place for a week during spring, and showcases the cultural and historical heritage of the city. During this festival, most of the museums across the city open their doors to the public for free. In addition to free entry, the Culture Festival also sees a large number of music artists perform at the event.
