Amsterdam is a beautiful city located in the Netherlands which has an impressive architecture with lovely canals criss-crossing the city, immense shopping opportunities and friendly people. The highlights of Amsterdam include Anne Franks House, the oldest Netherlands zoo - Artis Zoo. The Concertgebouworkest is Amsterdam's world-class symphony orchestra. It is known for its museums like Madame Tussauds wax museum, Van Gogh Museum, the Rembrandt House Museum. Amsterdam is famous for its vibrant nightlife and for de Wallen, which is its red-light district.

Amsterdam, Dec. 17, 2007 — the city of Amsterdam is making good on its promise to clean up its world-famous Red Light District. Plans to upgrade the 750-year-old neighborhood over the next ten years include banning window prostitution from all but two locations.

Amsterdam’s historic city center

Lodewijk Asscher says the city wants to recapture the historic city center in order to “give it back to the Amsterdammers.”With seven churches built in the Middle Ages the oldest part of Amsterdam has much to offer tourists and locals alike.

In cooperation with Chinese locals Chinatown will be further developed. The city also wants to engage housing corporations, banks, private investors and businesses such as Hotel Krasnapolsky and the Bijenkorf warehouse.

Red Carpet

The so-called ‘Red Carpet‘— from Central Station to Dam Square and Rokin — will also be cleaned up.

The gaudy lampposts and shady hole-in-the-wall business will have to make place for more attractive street furniture and upscale stores.

Coalition Project 1012 — named after the postal code for the area — will involve hundreds of millions of Euros.

Last Friday the city of Amsterdam announced that owners of bordellos, escort companies and pimps will only be allowed to ply their trade if they have an official permit.

Red Light District leaves nothing to the imagination. It is very likely that you will have heard about this neighbourhood and to be frank, everything you will have heard is probably true, but to really put rumours to rest, you have got to check it out for yourself. The Rossebuurt, as the locals know it, is unlike any other place. Guaranteed. Certainly, the Red Light District that everyone knows about is the one where women, of all nationalities, parade their wares in red-fringed window parlours, many ready to offer more than a school boy peep-show in a private cabin. Another familiar image of the Red Light District is of packs of men, young and old , couples holding hands and pointing in shock of it all, giggling groups of women celebrating a hen night , and busloads of Japanese tourists toting cameras (except not in the direction of the female entertainers! Strictly banned!). This is proof enough that the RLD deserves a visit, if not a little look in.

The RLD is a fun place to visit. Like I said just use your common sense & you will be saying how great that area of Amsterdam really is go fast and enjoy your best time book your Amsterdam flights now.
