Would like to advice you a nice place to stay in Lisbon - Alfama.
If you would like to have a special experience, then never stay in the hotel. Rent some small, cheap apartment in one of the oldest districts of Lisbon - Alfama (you can find some very nice apartments here: www.lisbonoasis.com) . Walk on those tiny streets; have a coffee in small, local restaurants; take a tram 28 up to Castelo São Jorge and enjoy the wonderful view of Lisbon. Do whatever you want to do!
