San Antonio rich of history, part of six different governments, the city is said to have been "under 6 flags." with ruling by France, Spain, Mexico, the Republic of Texas, the Confederate States of America and the United States of America. Cultural marks identify downtown San Antonio.
Downtown San Antonio retains an Old World feeling with narrow streets, plazas, and Spanish architecture blending with modern skyscrapers. Sounds and flavors of Native America, Old Mexico, Germany, the Wild West, African-America and the Deep South mingle and merge. All good reasons for about seven million tourists visiting each year.
There are a number of good hotels downtown San Antonio and I could recommend La Quinta Inn and Suites San Antonio Downtown for a comfortable stay, in a very central location and with good connections. La Quinta Inn and Suites is very coveniently located three blocks from Market Square, eight blocks from the Alamo, and approximately 10 miles from San Antonio International Airport.
